I pretty much cried when I watched the music video for this song “Time to Pretend” by MGMT. It explains perfectly the conflicts that daily bombard so many of my friends and I. I mean, I’m no drug user and abuser but I’m definitely not perfect either. I have my own equally disgusting vices.
If you have a fast internet connection, I highly recommend watching the video in full resolution (takes forever to load, but worth it):
1. Georgie is an amazing healer and friend of mine. Meeting him changed my life - no joke. Plus he has beautiful eyes (is single, I think) and it’s his birthday!
2. The party goes down at Caffe Vivaldi, which has Chimay beer and a fireplace. Enough said.
3. Speaking of which, the hotness that is Michael Schoen will be playing some songs. And while I’m on the subject….
4. I’ll be playing a few NEW songs with my new band mate Alice Hu (also single, I think) and hipster David Pattillo.
5. It’s FREE, and you don’t have to be 21 to get in. (Roar Lions roar!)
So get yer butts out on Friday! Movin’ is the only way to keep warm in this weather anyway.

Georgie’s Birthday
With Michael Schoen, Reni Laine and friends6-9 PMCaffe Vivaldi32 Jones St. NYC
I played a show last week for NYU’s Professor and Pie series. Benny the blogger lent us his pad for the night while we chowed down on pie, ice cream, and sang some tunes…here is Benny and Owen watching me sing.
Can you believe he is only 4 years old and has his own blog?? He also took some video. Check out clips from the performance below. Thanks Benny!
Simple, clean, fresh, looks like I have nothing on (well, sort of). He made my eyebrows huge and dark which really brought out my eyes. Hints of white and mauve eyeshadow make the eyes huge. I also just love when makeup artists use their hands to apply foundation - it’s like a painting mixing all the hues together to get the perfect shade.
OK GO changed everything about music videos (remember those boys dancing on the treadmills?). Instead of paying someone to make a video for me that will most likely involve sweeping shots of my hairsprayed head in a field of digitally-enhanced wheat, I can pick up my mom’s camcorder and with a little time and effort, make something really cool on my own.
I’ve been playing around with two music videos ideas and in the process stumbled upon a few gems.
1. Gotta love the Vampire Weekend boys. Bonus: two of them graduated from Columbia University in 2006!
Also, could I ever do a post about amazing music videos without mentioning the goddess Bjork? I could only dream of having videos like her.
